{"id":32,"date":"2025-03-31T05:20:14","date_gmt":"2025-03-31T05:20:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/capitals.uralic.org\/?page_id=32"},"modified":"2025-04-25T10:38:12","modified_gmt":"2025-04-25T07:38:12","slug":"goals","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/capitals.uralic.org\/et\/about-us\/goals\/","title":{"rendered":"Goals"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"bde-globalblock-32-100 bde-globalblock\"><section class=\"bde-section-161-100-161-1 bde-section bde-section-161-100\">\n  \n  \n\t\n\n\n\n<div class=\"section-container\"><h1 class=\"bde-heading-161-101-161-1 bde-heading bde-heading-161-101\">Goals<\/h1><div class=\"bde-fancy-divider-161-103-161-1 bde-fancy-divider bde-fancy-divider-161-103\">\n\n\n<div class=\"bde-fancy-divider__wrapper\">\n  <div class=\"bde-fancy-divider__separator\">\n  \t  <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/section><\/div><section class=\"bde-section-32-101 bde-section\">\n  \n  \n\t\n\n\n\n<div class=\"section-container\"><div class=\"bde-text-32-102 bde-text\">\nSince its inception in 2013, the programme of Finno-Ugric Capitals of Culture has served three key goals:<br><br><li> To contribute towards the preservation and development of Finno-Ugric peoples, languages and cultures<br><br><li>To strengthen the common Finno-Ugric identity among Finno-Ugric peoples worldwide, and<br><br><li>To provide opportunities for sustainable cultural, social and economic development in regions that hold the title of Finno-Ugric Capital of Culture<br><br>A unique aspect of the Finno-Ugric Capitals of Culture programme is its local focus and intention to provide tangible and sustainable benefits from the status of Finno-Ugric Capital of Culture to title-holders, both during the cultural capital year and after it.<br><br>Over the past decade, we have witnessed remarkable success stories among Finno-Ugric Capitals of Culture with respect to sustainable development. For some, like the first Finno-Ugric Capital of Culture <a href=\"#\">Bygy (Udmurtia)<\/a>, the title became a springboard for developing cultural tourism, leading to additional income for its residents and building a strong place brand. For others, like <br><a href=\"https:\/\/capitals.uralic.org\/et\/capital\/abja-paluoja\/\">Abja-Paluoja (Estonia)<\/a> the cultural capital year started new traditions that continue to this day. And for many Finno-Ugric Capitals of Culture the title helped secure additional resources for investments in infrastructure \u2013 from new roads to renovations of community centres.<br><br>However, the title of Finno-Ugric Capital of Culture itself does not guarantee any of these benefits.
