The festive opening also included a Finno-Ugric procession and concert dedicated to the start of spring.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-311\" src=\"https:\/\/capitals.uralic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/010325_01-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"narva 2025\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"https:\/\/capitals.uralic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/010325_01-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/capitals.uralic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/010325_01-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/capitals.uralic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/010325_01-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/capitals.uralic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/010325_01-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/capitals.uralic.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/010325_01.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"s7\"><span class=\"s6\">The festive day started with the opening of the exhibition &#8220;Bible in the languages of Finno-Ugric peoples&#8221; at the Narva Central Library and continued with a procession along the Narva River Promenade, which featured flags of all Finno-Ugric peoples. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s7\"><span class=\"s6\">The official ceremony of handing over the title of the Finno-Ugric Capital of Culture 2025 was held in the historic Narva City Hall. The symbol of the Finno-Ugric Capitals of Culture \u2013 <\/span><span class=\"s6\">Tsirk<\/span><span class=\"s6\">-bird \u2013 was brought to the festive hall by <\/span><span class=\"s8\">Oliver <\/span><span class=\"s8\">Loode<\/span><span class=\"s6\"> (URALIC Centre) and <\/span><span class=\"s8\">Aleksi Palokangas<\/span><span class=\"s6\"> (<\/span><span class=\"s6\">Sukukansojen<\/span> <span class=\"s6\">Yst\u00e4v\u00e4t<\/span> <span class=\"s6\">ry<\/span><span class=\"s6\">) and handed over to <\/span><span class=\"s8\">Katri Raik<\/span><span class=\"s6\">, the Mayor of Narva. In turn, the Mayor handed the <\/span><span class=\"s6\">Tsirk<\/span><span class=\"s6\"> to <\/span><span class=\"s8\">Ekaterina Kuznetsova<\/span><span class=\"s6\"> (<\/span><span class=\"s6\">Ingeri<\/span><span class=\"s6\"> House) as the main organizer of the Finno-Ugric Capital of Culture 2025 year. <\/span><span class=\"s6\">Thereafter, representatives of several kindred peoples\u2019 delegations, including <\/span><span class=\"s6\">Kvens<\/span><span class=\"s6\">, Setos<\/span><span class=\"s6\">, Maris and Komis, greeted the organizers of the new Finno-Ugric capital of culture \u2013 Narva. \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s7\"><span class=\"s6\">The opening ceremony was followed by a concert at the Narva College of the University of Tartu, with performances in <\/span><span class=\"s6\">Izhorian<\/span><span class=\"s6\">, Votic, Finnish, Karelian, Mari, Udmurt, Moksha, Komi and Komi-Permyak languages.
